When God Dies The Light Is Gone.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mark 15:33-39<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it was noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. At three o\u2019clock Jesus cried out with a loud voice, \u2018Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?\u2019 which means, \u2018My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?\u2019 When some of the bystanders heard it, they said, \u2018Listen, he is calling for Elijah.\u2019 And someone ran, filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on a stick, and gave it to him to drink, saying, \u2018Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to take him down.\u2019 Then Jesus gave a loud cry and breathed his last. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. Now when the centurion, who stood facing him, saw that in this way he breathed his last, he said, \u2018Truly this man was God\u2019s Son!\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Words of Grace For Today<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we want to ignore truth, then we can say much about how God did not really die, just Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But Jesus is God. Jesus dies. God dies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is left?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As always after death we are at a loss to know anything for sure because death rips the foundations of life out from under us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And when God dies, the foundations of all the universe are gone, not to be found no matter how hard we seek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So we are<\/p>\n\n\n\n

simply<\/p>\n\n\n\n

lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
