<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\nBy the Spirit\u2019s Work In Us We Turn To The Light,<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\nnot on our own,<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\nnever<\/em>,<\/p>\n\n\n\nwe cannot ever.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\nFirst Samuel 7:3<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nThen Samuel said to all the house of Israel, \u2018If you are returning to the Lord with all your heart, then put away the foreign gods and the Astartes from among you. Direct your heart to the Lord, and serve him only, and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Words of Grace for Today –<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We all make choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God gives us that ability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To choose to love as God created us, or to turn and serve other gods or godlets or ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We would like to take the credit for choosing right, for choosing to turn to God, to love God, ourselves, our neighbours, our enemies and all creation,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
BUT<\/p>\n\n\n\n
WE cannot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On our own we cannot ever make such choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What we can all on our own is turn away from God, away from love, to ways that diminish and extinguish life for us all, and for all creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That is the starting point of honesty with ourselves, and our own turning to God: We cannot turn ourselves to God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But God can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Holy Spirit works in us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And we are able thus to leave behind our godlets, our false gods, our worship of ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
