It\u2019s the longest daylight day of the year,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
here, and most places in the northern hemisphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s a birthday coming,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A death date going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Makes for long thoughts to fill the long hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Celebrating life, mourning death,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
but mostly counting on God\u2019s mercy<\/p>\n\n\n\n
and compassion<\/p>\n\n\n\n
to save us yet again,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
from all that would undo us<\/p>\n\n\n\n
or put us, too, six feet under<\/p>\n\n\n\n
for the long dirt-nap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oh, that honesty and kindness were possible ….<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oh, that Grace would prevail ….<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oh, Lordy, Lordy, have mercy on us all, help us each day<\/p>\n\n\n\n
when death is easier to deal with than the opposite of honesty and kindness practised against us so, costing us so much,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
but costing those who lack honesty and kindness so much more, the very essence of life itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
