Luke 12:19-21<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nThe rich will say to their soul, \u201cSoul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.\u201d But God said to him, \u201cYou fool! This very night your life is being demanded of you. And the things you have prepared, whose will they be?\u201d So it is with those who store up treasures for themselves but are not rich toward God.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Words of Grace for Today –<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How people have yearned to be rich. To be able to \u2018take a break\u2019, head off on the \u2018freedom 55\u2019 train, give up deadlines for lifelines, to do what you want, when you want, where you want, and how you want, to turn \u2018short, nasty, and brutish\u2019 into \u2018eat, drink, and be merry!\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But life simply does not work that way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Life lived for oneself becomes perverse, if it wasn\u2019t that already. And it rots from within, spreading to those around one, and affected by one. It\u2019s living hell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The true treasure of life is free, but not without cost. It is to live as Jesus did, giving everything to give life to others, to love one\u2019s neighbour as oneself, even one\u2019s enemies, and the downtrodden and outcast most of all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To be truly rich, we only need recognize that God walks with us, blesses us, and sends us out to be that same blessing for all other people.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
